RED BSC Workshop Hosted by Asa Bailey
This May, Garden Studios will host the RED Virtual Production team for a rare, hands-on experience for members of the British Society of Cinematographers in the evolving craft of cinematic volume capture. If you're a BSC Member, a Director of Photography or a Producer navigating the frontlines of virtual production, this is an invitation to get your hands on the tools shaping the future of filmmaking.
Led by Director of Virtual Production Asa Bailey this workshop is built for those who want more than a demo. We’ll be diving into a real virtual production shoot, with examples of RED’s dual-capture recording workflows using Phantom Track, and combining 2D driving plates with 3D environments to show how real performance can combine with cinematic world capture and real-time 2D 3D engine playback. The result: smarter volume workflows, grounded in the craft of cinematography.
Sessions run 1–4pm and 5–8pm on May 1st, with a drop-in coffee hour from 10am–12pm if you’d rather just come for a chat. If you're a creative or crew lead looking to integrate virtual production into your pipeline or if you're just tired of the noise and want a grounded view of what’s real and ready this is for you.
Please note: this is a RED and BSC curated event. Attendance is limited and by application only. Applying does not guarantee a place. Final admission and selection will be handled by RED Cinema and the British Society of Cinematographers.
